Workforce Solutions Overview

A Division of the Center for Community Services

As the administrator for the Atlanta Regional Workforce Development Board (ARWDB), ARC's Workforce Solutions Division focuses on demand-driven workforce solutions by providing data and resources for businesses seeking a skilled workforce; as well as providing workforce solutions for dislocated workers, unemployed and low-income adults and youth.  

Workforce Investment Act Plan

The Atlanta Regional Workforce Development Board’s Workforce Investment Act Plan update for the counties of Cherokee, Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties is available for review at the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), the administrative and fiscal agent for the Chief Elected Officials of the above counties.  Please contact the Workforce Solutions Division at 404-463-3326 if you are interested in reviewing the document at the ARC offices. 

Workforce Board News

The Atlanta Regional Workforce Development Board recognized customers who demonstrated extraordinary commitment to enhancing their job skills, successfully completed training or youth services offered through the network of Career Resource Centers and Youth Programs; and employers and community partners who further the mission of the workforce board by expanding opportunities for job seekers.

At the end of each calendar year, the Atlanta Regional Workforce Board recognizes outstanding adults, youth and dislocated workers who have successfully completed training through the programs and services offered through its network of Career Resource Centers.The moving testaments recounted in the video below demonstrate the power of the Workforce Board training programs to profoundly change lives.

Other Current Initiatives

The Governor's High Demand Career Initiative Report is a continuation of the ongoing Georgia Competitiveness Initiative.

Go Build Georgia  is a nationally-recognized awareness effort launched by the Governor's Office of Workforce Development designed to educate young people and the public at large about the skilled trades and how to pursue a career in these fields. 

Operation Workforce

Governor Nathan Deal and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, in partnership with the Georgia Dept of Labor launched several statewide workforce development initiatives aimed to aid Georgia’s returning veterans. With an estimated 80,000 new veterans expected to enter Georgia’s workforce by 2016, these new programs will help ensure veterans have a smooth transition back into the civilian workforce.
GOWD launched Operation: Workforce which serves as an online one-stop for veteran resources and services in Georgia.  The website will host job listings from companies across the state of Georgia who are looking to fill their positions with hard working veterans.

The Innovation Crescent is internationally recognized as a unique hub of life science talent and is a regional coalition dedicated to supporting the futureGeorgia Innovation Crescent Logo growth of Georgia’s life sciences. The I.C. is comprised of 13 economic development entities and Chambers of Commerce with goals to expand existing life science industries, align education and workforce development resources to support the life science industry cluster and grow high-wage jobs.
